When I was growing up this was a game we played on the first day of the month. It was great fun and in its own way honoured the passing of time. As an adult I reflect on the year so far and consider how far I have honoured all those intentions I had at the beginning of the year.
If I have not lived up to my intentions then I accept that I have not done so but refrain from feeling I must try harder. Far more productive, I feel, to analyse WHY I have not done so and to consider those things I am pleased to have achieved. Perhaps my intentions were unrealistic or not particularly desirable,
However, the first of the month is a new beginning and as far as our intentions are concerned we can gently pinch ourselves and RETURN to them in the sense of deciding how we would like ‘to be’ and ‘to act’ for this next month.
