10 November 2018 — THERE IS NOTHING LIKE SILENCE TO STILL THE RESTLESSNESS OF THE HEART (Sri Sathya Sai Baba)

A tall order — silencing our chattering rational minds which are continuously comparing ourselves to others and, more often than not criticising either our selves or the other, or worrying about one thing or another.

So how can we silence our rational minds? How can we still the restlessness of the heart? I interpret ‘the restlessness of the heart’ as our longing for life to be different: for certain things to happen and certain things to stop happening, or not to happen. A ‘longing’ which takes us away from inner peace and from The Point of Power In The Moment. There is, of course, also the longing to be different — to be more like other people, or more laid back, etc etc. Perhaps ‘silence’ merely refers to the acceptance of everything, to lack of desire and to the absence of judging and criticising. Or perhaps silence simply means allowing our thoughts to rise and fall without judgement through feeling the feelings which arise and fall in the Solar Plexus area.

This is in no way an easy task until the habit pattern of, as it were, dragging our thoughts from the mind through our throat and heart centres into our solar plexus area has been established. IN THE MEANTIME, HOWEVER, awareness of our thoughts and the feelings which precede and follow those thoughts without our judging them, can I feel go some way to helping us still the restlessness of the heart.

My mantra for today is ACCEPTANCE OF ALL.

My writing is based on the understanding that ‘we’, (each of us individually) create our own reality through our feelings, thoughts and actions.
