11 March 2023 — LOVING OTHERS

I have just come across this quote from Sri Sathya Sai Baba which made me ponder!

The quote reads: ‘It is not all that important how much you love others. It is far more important how much others love you.”

It does make good sense of course, but I wonder if others would love us if they did not feel love — good vibrations! —coming from us. And, I suspect that for all of us there are some people whom we find difficult to love — whose personalities we find too outspoken, too showing off, too concerned in getting others to notice them.

In a sense the quote turns what I have believed upside down because I have felt it was important to find love for others in the sense of understanding where they are coming from and not judging them. There are those ‘others’ of course who rub us up the wrong way and we tell ourselves that we really can’t stand them!

As for others loving us — well I believe that most of us trust and hope that others DO LOVE US . There are those ‘others’ of course who rub us up the wrong way and we tell ourselves that we really can’t stand them! And perhaps we are one of those ‘others’ for other people!

‘IT IS NOT ALL THAT IMPORTANT HOW MUCH YOU LOVE OTHERS. IT IS FAR MORE IMPORTANT HOW MUCH OTHERS LOVE YOU.
