11 November 2021 — BIG BROTHER WATCHING OVER US

‘Big Brother’ is a fictional character and a symbol in George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984. He is essentially the leader of Oceania, a totalitarian state about a society where the ruling party wields total power ‘for its own sake’ over the inhabitants’.

And at the moment I feel ‘Big Brother’ is watching over me! This is because of all the texts I am constantly receiving from the National Health Service to tell me that I am eligible for the COVID 19 BOOSTER VACCINE and a free NHS flu vaccination. I am informed of how important it is at my age to have the flu vaccination. Admittedly the texts have my welfare at heart and no one is wielding power over me but I do feel a little intruded upon and harassed. I am very aware of the options open to me but in the final analysis it is my choice whether or not I take these up and I do have my reasons for not having done so yet.

AND it does seem a bit ‘big brotherish’ in that I feel bombarded by the NHS.

Well, this is just the way I see it. I know of other people who are very grateful to the NHS. In the final analysis we are all very different in our outlook. I’m not too sure what it says about my personality and make up when I feel frustrated by the attention, care and concern, and NOT grateful.

PONDER POINTS: my feelings on reading the above are …. my thoughts on reading the above are ….. I am very grateful for living in a society where one’s best interests are taken care of .. I feel it is a little paranoid to resent the careof the NHS…..
