12 JANUARY 2022 — CHOOSING TO BE DEPRESSED/FEARFUL OF CHANGE

Why would anyone make that choice?

Many people will come back at me with ‘but it’s not a choice — it just descends upon me and I can’t help it’.

AND INDEED, that was my response once upon a time. Now, today, for some reason I am feeling a little down and could gladly lie in bed all day nursing my depression.

HOWEVER, apart from giving me ‘time out’ it will not solve my problem.

AND, my problem is of course, is NOT WANTING TO MOVE FORWARD. To put it more precisely my problem is FEAR OF CHANGE. But, in order to TREAD WATER and give myself time for reflection I do not need to choose to be depressed or to escape from the situation in such a negative way.

I merely grant myself TIME OUT for reflection in order to heal the rift between my WISE SOUL SIDE and my EGO SELF —in order to balance both brain hemispheres — the left and right hemisphere so that I may achieve the position where I am no longer in conflict with myself and I can FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY. And apropos yesterday’s blog achieve Equanimity!

One technique which helps to bring both sides of ourselves together (both brain hemispheres) — the rational ego mind and the intuitive soul mind — is to attempt to write with the non dominant hand whilst placing our attention on the feelings in the Solar Plexus area hence holding a conversation between both hands representing the left and right hemispheres of the brain. This is not easy the first time we try it but it is intriguing if uncomfortable and will become easier the more we do it. as well as providing us with insights into WHAT is troubling us and WHY. Eventually it will lead to EQUANIMITY. In the beginning however, it is useful to remember the thoughts which occur to us whilst writing with the non=dominant hand and immediately write them down with the dominant hand. To aid writing with the non dominant hand it is helpful at the start to draw circles with it.

PONDER POINTS: On reading this I felt ….. what I think about the above is …I feel I understand what ‘feel the fear and do it anyway’ involves because….what I think about holding a conversation between both hands is …
