12 JUNE 2020 — You Raise Me Up
Today YOU RAISE ME UP is the song going around in my head.
‘When I am down, and oh my soul so weary/When troubles come and my heart burdened be,/ Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,/ Until you come and sit awhile with me.’
‘You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains, /You raise me up to walk on stormy seas/I am strong when I am on your shoulders/You raise me up to more than I can be.’
I guess that the ‘YOU’ in the song is different for us all. If we have a religious belief then the ‘YOU’ will be the head of that religion. If, as I do, we believe that we are all a part of God and that God is in all of us then the ‘YOU’ will be our wise side minus our ego self.
However, irrespective of WHO it is that’ raises us up’ when troubles come and our souls are so weary’ the song is 100% positive as it embodies that part of us who knows we are not our ego selves but are indeed, souls in a body, even if that ‘ soul is so weary.’ The answer, therefore, to our trials, troubles and tribulations lies within our own selves.
It is NOT, however, always easy to ‘raise ourselves up’ and we sometimes do NEED A LITTLE HELP FROM OUR FRIENDS! From friends who will listen, empathise with us and give us the benefit of their advice, whether or not in the end we take it. Others responses to our problems allow us to put those problems into perspective and allow us to ‘raise ourselves up so we can stand on mountains’.
