12 September 2021 — OUR DEEPEST FEAR

Today I feel inspired to quote Nelson Mandela’s Inaugural Speech 1994.- 27 years ago! It reads:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate? Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD. Your NOT playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone! And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others!”

Well, there we go! When we are mentally trying to make ourselves feel good by thinking of others whom we tend to look down upon, according to Nelson Mandela we are judging a child of God and thereby as children of God we are judging ourselves as well.

And why judge others or ourselves? When we feel the need to judge others thereby comparing them to ourselves in the hope of finding them wanting, we are feeling inadequate and insecure and lacking LOVE for ourselves and for others. ACCEPT ACCEPT ACCEPT and ponder the words ‘OUR DEEPEST FEAR IS THAT WE ARE POWERFUL BEYOND MEASURE.’ Our fear of knowing that we are POWERFUL BEYOND MEASURE comes I would suggest from our fear of not wanting to get our head bitten off, of being misunderstood, of having others judge us.

‘And as we let our own light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others!’ And, hopefully, OUR SHINING LIGHT will connect to the light within them contributing to their feeling good for having met us so that their light too will shine brightly and connect them to the God within.

PONDER POINTS: My automatic thoughts on reading this blog were… what I think about my deepest fear being that I am powerful beyond measure is …times when I feel I allowed my light to shine and felt powerful in myself were ….. times I feel I may have played ‘small’ were …

My writing is based on the understanding that ‘we’, (each of us individually) create our own reality through our feelings, thoughts and actions.
