13 September 2021 — WHEN THE POINT OF POWER FORSAKES US AND WE DON’T FEEL IN CONTROL OF OUR LIVES.
Today for some reason I am entirely lacking in energy even to the extent of not being able to walk up a small hill which usually I don’t find a problem ascending. THE POINT OF POWER would seem to be lacking BUT it is important, I know, to ACCEPT this situation and not to allow myself to get upset thereby making it into a MENTAL as well as a PHYSICAL problem.
MOST PROBLEMS which emanate from within us and are not caused by others’ reactions to us, are caused by FEAR— fear of change, fear of taking the next step etc.
The first requisite to regaining our POINT OF POWER is to refuse to let the RATIONAL MONKEY MIND worry and incessantly chatter about our problem. One way of doing this is to purposely think of happy times or situations which have made us happy in the past. Another is to feel our feelings in an attempt to understand WHY we have created this problem — WHAT IS THE PAY OFF? Most likely the PAY OFF is to distract us from going forward OR apropos yesterday’s blog and Nelson Mandela’s inaugural speech, our fear of being POWERFUL.
Sometimes thoughts arise such as: Who Am I to think I can achieve this? All those times when others have doubted our capabilities arise in our minds. AND, of course the question we should be asking is: WHO AM I TO NOT ACHIEVE THIS? Our inner conflict then, is between our hearts and our minds: between what we know in our hearts IS our next step forward and what in our minds we believe NOT to be for the likes of us.
I believe we all experience these uncomfortable situations from time to time and in extreme cases we blot out our mental anguish through addiction. HARDLY THE WAY TO REGAIN OUR POINT OF POWER!
We will, (and I will in the present circumstances) only regain our POINT OF POWER by facing our fears and feelings of inadequacy by discovering what IS THE NEXT STEP we need to take now and TRUSTING in our ability to know what is right for us and our capability to achieve this.
PONDER POINTS: My thoughts on reading this blog are ….. times in the past when I didn’t feel in control of my life were…. situations I remember resolving successfully through regaining the POINT OF POWER are ….situations where I feel I gave away my POINT OF POWER are….. situations in which I was able to regain my POINT OF POWER through endurance, acceptance and living in the moment and NOT THE PAST are…..
