14 July 2020 — ONE MAY NOT REACH THE DAWN SAVE BY THE PATH OF THE NIGHT — (KAHLIL GIBRAN)

I find this to be true in the little irritating things which happen as well in the more major occurrences. At the moment I feel I am going through the ‘night’ with regard to my creativity but have experienced this process enough times to know that the ‘light’ will eventually shine and I will be able to achieve creatively whatever it is I desire.

It also seems that with regard to one or two relationships that the night has settled in the sense that I am feeling somewhat misunderstood. There is, of course, the old age problem of our viewing ourselves as being a certain way and wanting to be acknowledged by others for those qualities we feel we exhibit WHILST others don’t always view us in this way. And, this may be because they have travelled a different path to be who they are now from the path we have travelled and therefore approach life from a different perspective. Each of us needs, therefore, to have belief in ourselves as we are and to not seek the approval of others whilst accepting others as they are.

Accepting others as they are is not always easy but it helps to remember Kahlil Gibran’s saying, ONE MAY NOT REACH THE DAWN SAVE BY THE PATH OF THE NIGHT and if the night seems long and hard and we feel unappreciated then the questions we need to ask ourselves are: WHY HAVE I CHOSEN THIS? WHAT HAVE I TO LEARN?

My worst enemy can sometimes be PRIDE, one of the deadly sins! But fortunately if I do indulge in pride, in thinking I know best and that I am right, there is always someone or something to bring me down to earth. In one case it was my bike, literally! When I decided that I could easily cycle up a hill up which hitherto I had always dismounted half way and pushed the bike to the top, I fell off and broke my neck.

In the months which followed I certainly travelled the PATH OF THE NIGHT which gave me much time for reflection until the dawn arrived and my body healed and hopefully leaving me a little wiser and less proud.
