14 November 2021 — RUDOLF STEINER — EDUCATION

Yesterday I was involved in a discussion about education and mentioned that my sons went to the Rudolf Steiner (the Waldorf School) of which no=one else had heard.

It got me thinking. The only reason my sons went to the school was because at the state school one of them was about to be put into the remedial class where I knew instinctively that he didn’t belong. In the event I have never stopped thanking God and Providence that I did find out about the school and sent my sons there.

Rudolf Steiner lived at the beginning of the 20th century. He had very definite views on education believing basically, that we were souls in a body and that education which just taught facts to the rational mind deadens the child’s innermost soul. The consequence of this is, that as adults we are unable to look inward to discover the answer to our problems and discover the reason we have attracted them.

AND the reason my son had difficulty with reading and writing is because he is dyslexic. Dyslexia was then a condition which wasn’t recognised.

Up until then I had very conventional beliefs but that incident brought out all my mothering instincts even though I had the saying that ‘you think all your geese are swans’ thrown at me.

The moral of this saying is simply to highlight the importance of TRUSTING OUR INSTINCTS — OUR INTUITIVE SIDE, AND to emphasise how easy it is to be thrust into ‘going along with the crowd’ and thinking that what people think generally must be right.

Once again SERENDIPITY raised its head!!

PONDER POINTS: How I felt upon reading this was … my thoughts abut the ideas expressed are ….. I feel I trusted my intuitive knowing in the past when…..Occasions when I went against my intuitive feelings were….
