15 August 2022 — DISRESPECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT

Today on an early morning walk around the harbourside — a part of the city which is noted for its beauty and individuality — I was dismayed to see the amount of litter scattered around showing total disrespect for the environment.

Does it follow, I wondered, that people who have no respect for the environment have no respect for themselves? The question then arises ‘why would an individual have no respect for his or her self?

It is my belief that when we are first born both sides of our brain hemispheres are balanced and we are aware that there is no duality — no ‘self’ and the ‘other’ or no ‘ me’ and ‘them’. We are aware of what I call ‘FORMLESS’ energy.

As we become socialised into the norms of our society, the right hemisphere (Soul) brain is taken over by the left hemisphere ego brain and DUALITY— ‘me’ and ‘the other’ becomes the order of the day. Our sense of knowing we are a part of ALL THAT IS is taken over by the need to stand out and to emphasise our self importance.

PONDER POINTS: on reading this I felt ….my thoughts upon reading this are ….what I feel about people dropping litter is …. I feel that it isn’t much to ask people to take their rubbish home with them if there are no bins … when I see rubbish dropped not that far from a litter bin I feel …I agree that dropping rubbish is disrespecting the environment because …
