15 June 2020 — COURAGE
Today’s blog once again addresses FEAR, the subject of the 11th of June’s blog, but this time concentrates on its opposite — COURAGE,
I quote Nelson Mandela:
‘I learned that courage was not the absence of fear but the triumph over it. I felt fear myself more times than I can remember, but I hid it behind a mask of boldness.
The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear’.
Another aspect of being courageous, I believe, is having the capacity to allow other people to have their way of thinking however different it is from our own AND TO RESPECT THEIR OPINIONS.
Allowing others their way of thinking and respecting their opinions IS I would suggest far easier than BEING ABLE TO TRIUMPH OVER OUR FEARS.
‘Feel the fear and do it anyway’ is a useful maxim to hold in mind even if we are NOT always able to do so.
