17 November 2022 — LOVE AND DUTY

‘Duty without love is deplorable/Duty with love is desirable/love without duty is divine.’ (Sri Sathya Sai Baba)

I find it hard to get my head around this saying! I suppose what it is pointing to is our ego selves. How often do we do what is expected of us and moan to ourselves about having to do it! Duty without love?

How often do we do a kindness to someone and then feel smug and pleased with ourselves thinking what a good person we are! Duty with love?

How often do we perform acts of kindness naturally just because it is a part of our nature. Love without duty?
