18 May 2020 — ‘A body that is not used to serve others is nothing but a corpse’ — Sri Sathya Sai Baba

There are many ways of serving others but to me a smile from a passer by is ‘service’ in the sense that I feel acknowledged and noticed.

Being noticed, however, is not always welcomed by me. One of my many idiosyncrasies is to hug trees and sometimes, like this morning, people ask me if I’m OK which interrupts my meditative state and brings me unwanted attention and I feel a little embarrassed.

But given the fact that the woman in question was a runner who stopped running in order to enquire after my welfare when she saw me hugging the tree, really did make me feel cared for and has given me a warm feeling.
