18th August 2018 — Wise Adult, Critical Parent, Nurturing Parent etc

The title is taken from the labels Transactional Analysis uses to describe our responses to others. The ‘Adult’ is the label given to someone who is content with who they are. Today whilst I hope I have managed to remain in Wise Adult mode I very much feel that a dear friend’s response to me has been as a critical parent. I also feel that without the knowledge through Transactional Analysis of these ROLES we all play from time to time I would have become very upset at seemingly being ‘told off’ and ‘put in my place’. Instead I was just able to shrug my shoulders and not respond making living today much easier!
