This saying questions the idea that money and possessions bring power and security. They do of course TEMPORARILY but as ‘they’ say: ‘You can’t take it with you when you go’.

‘I’ and ‘mine’ is in one sense a false reality and the concepts feed DESIRE. Whenever, whatever, the Ego self desires brings only temporary satisfaction because the ego self is forever changing and once it has acquired something that ‘something’ loses its appeal and leaves the Ego in the throes of excitement wanting to move on and satisfy itself by acquiring something else.

Our brains have two hemispheres — the right and the left — when these are balanced, in harmony with each other: our Soul/Wise sides balanced with our rational ego minds; then we are DESIRELESS and our HEARTS remain OPEN, and then we know TRUE LOVE. When we are able TO TRULY LOVE then we stop criticising and judging OURSELVES and OTHERS. We are able to accept people and circumstances as they are.

Another saying from the ‘Hippie List’ is ‘THE HUMAN SPIRIT NEEDS PLACES WHERE NATURE HAS NOT BEE REARRANGED BY THE HAND OF MAN. When we feel that we are NOT in touch with the LOVE IN OUR HEARTS or desiring things we don’t have, spending some time out in nature, in woods and fields and by water or the sea will reunite us with our love for ourselves, others and LIFE generally.
