22 June 2020 — FACING UP TO LIFE?= OR — BURYING ONE’S HEAD IN THE SAND?

Sometimes we all find it easier to avoid tackling things head on and making a decision in the moment. Taking action in the moment may not always be the most positive thing to do but facing our feelings around the situation and deciding how we are going to tackle it now or at a later date, I would say IS.

Many of us become so used to ‘burying our heads in the sand’ and not taking action in the moment that we are not even aware that we are doing so. Many of us, i would suggest, have become so used to going over and over things in our minds that it does seem that we are taking action unaware that the thoughts are, in effect, the sand in which we are burying our heads. There are many other habitual patternings we adopt in order to avoid making a definite decision and moving on with our lives. These include watching television, talking, texting or losing one’s self in social media etc etc.

THE POINT OF POWER is certainly NOT OURS when we are putting our mental energy into avoiding the matter at hand and justifying to ourselves why it was right to act in the way in which we chose to deal with the situation.

I find it useful when I find my mind going over and over the same matter to concentrate on certain questions such as: WHY AM I CONCERNED ABOUT THIS MATTER? IN WHAT WAY DO I FEEL IN MY HEART I SHOULD HAVE ACTED? WHAT IS IT I FEEL I NEED TO FORGIVE MYSELF FOR? HOW CAN I ACCEPT THAT I AM NOT PERFECT AND FORGIVE MYSELF FOR MY IMPERFECTIONS?

My writing is based on the understanding that ‘we’, (each of us individually) create our own reality through our feelings, thoughts and actions.
