22 November 2020 — KINDNESS OR INTERFERENCE?
Sometimes, being different from what people generally expect from someone my age, brings me unwanted attention. I am, indeed an eccentric old lady who hugs trees — the same tree — and generally people have come to know me and accept that I do what I do.
However, today, was much busier than usual and many people were passing who don’t usually come that way with the result that people stopped three times to ask me if I was OK. Whilst I can appreciate their genuine concern I did find it very annoying and have been asking myself whether their motivation was indeed KINDNESS or, whether it was merely interference motivated by their need to be noticed or to get away from their own feelings.
As usual I expect that it was both, some were genuinely concerned whilst others welcomed the distraction that interfering in my affairs brought them. And, there is always the fact that if I choose a public place then I must be prepared to deal with the public. But fortunately today was really an exception because of increased number of people passing.
AND, here I am expecting people to be TOLERANT OF ME without my being prepared to be TOLERANT OF THEM!
