22 October 2021- TREE HUGGING
To me it is natural to hug trees and there is one particular tree I try to hug every day. It is in a fairly quiet spot but unfortunately this morning I was interrupted twice by people who genuinely concerned for my well being asked me asked me if I was OK. I smiled, thanked them for their concern and said words to the effect that I was an eccentric old lady who loves to hug trees at which they seem very amused.
For me it is a kind of meditation and I like to believe I am getting a ‘message’ from the tree even if it is merely my own intuition.
Having googled Tree Hugging my intuition has been confirmed.
‘Hugging a tree increases levels of the hormone Oxytocin which is responsible for feeling calm and emotional bonding’. (Wild Tree Adventures)
I am fortunate, I believe, to have reached a physical age where I am no longer affected by peoples’ opinions of me. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but in truth, our opinions of others say more about ourselves and where we are coming from, than it does the other person. And sometimes we project on to others that which we don’t wish to face in ourselves!
PONDER POINTS: My reactions on reading this were ….. I think hugging trees is crazy because …. I think hugging trees is positive because ..what I feel about the quotation that hugging a tree increases one’s level of the hormone Oxytocin is …..
