24 October 2022 — GIVING UP or ADAPTING TO BODY AGEING?

Today I have been pondering on whether the things I do automatically, like walking wherever I wish and dancing to music are activities I should cease doing because they do not come as naturally as once they did and take more effort.

The question arises as to whether I am ‘giving up’ or ‘adapting to age’. Yes, sometimes it is right to give things up but I have always been very reluctant to give up activities which I feel are part of who I am and to admit that I am getting old.

This is indeed a rather foolish attitude. We all get older and to age gracefully I assume is adapting to one’s body’s needs and not fighting the changes which come naturally.

As we grow older we adapt to age and change our behaviour because very often we have lost interest in what we did when we were younger.

As ever perhaps EGO is the culprit wishing to continue to be able to pride ourselves on what we have always seen as our achievements. So the question arises ‘do I continue to punish myself by making things harder than they need to be’ or simply adapt, in other words ‘Go With The Flow?’
