The origin of Boxing Day is said to stem from the time when the rich used to box up gifts to give to the poor. it was first established in 1871. Today, of course its main significance is that it forms a two day holiday for some, and has become a ‘shopping’ day for those of us who do not work in shops,

A nice tradition perhaps to keep up by giving to homeless people we see in the streets. Not, of course, that we are ‘RICH’ merely that we have a roof over our heads and food in the cupboard.
