27 November 2002 — DESIRING

What is the one desire common to us all? To be WEALTHY? To be HEALTHY? To be WISE?

I would suggest that it is to be HEALTHY even though many of us also wish to be wealthy and some of us to be wise. And, on some level most of us yearn to be Enlightened in the sense of knowing that we are NOT our bodies, our thoughts or our feelings.

However, I think that it may true to say that many of us are concerned day to day with acquiring possessions, with doing whatever it is that makes our ego minds happy. Once again the conflict between our Soul knowing and our Ego selves rears its head.

I end with a quote from Sri Satya Sai Baba: ‘Those who seek the bliss of the Supreme, should not always run after the joys of sense objects”.
