29 September 2018 —’ Ought to’s’ — THINGS WE IMPOSE UPON OURSELVES
Duty without love is deplorable/Duty with love is desirable/Love without duty is divine. (quote from Sri Sathya Sri Baba)
Sometimes it is so hard just ‘to be’, just to allow ourselves ‘to go with the flow’. ‘Going with the flow does to some extent mean trusting in our ‘selves’; in our ability to act with love, to act without causing harm to others and to act with truth. This is because we were socialised to not trust ourselves and to listen to others opinions as to what was ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ and were taken away from our inner knowing, our inner truth.
When we are able to believe and trust in our ‘selves’, in our intuitive knowing, we will find ourselves automatically acting from love and truth instead of finding ourselves TRYING to do what we rationally BELIEVE TO BE RIGHT simply because we have been told it is the right thing to do by other people. We will then be acting from LOVE, and, ‘ought tos’ and duty will no longer be a part of the equation.
