29 September 2022 — THE ENEMIES OF MAN

The six enemies of man are said to be LUST, ANGER, GREED, ATTACHMENT, PRIDE and JEALOUSY. (Sri Sathya Sai Baba)

Emotions we are all likely to have entertained at sometime in our lives, and, for many of us emotions which pervade our minds on a regular basis.

So, what is it that makes us angry? What is it we covet? What do we lust after? To what are we attached? Of whom are we jealous? What is it about ourselves which makes us feel proud?

Our reactions to knowing that we are experiencing these emotions are very important. When we are aware that our minds are entertaining the above ‘enemies of man’ then, we simply need to accept that they ARE PRESENT, allow the thoughts to rise and fall, whilst being aware of our feelings in .our Solar Plexus areas. We are, after all, human beings and these qualities (the enemies of man) are bound to be present in our minds from time to time. We need to deal with their presence in our minds by firstly, refusing to indulge them, and secondly by refusing to blame ourselves for entertaining such thoughts.

We need to love and forgive ourselves and set our minds on a different path by recalling what gives us pleasure or something to which we are looking forward.
