3 December 2022 — OLD AND GREY

‘Nobody wants you when you’re old and grey’ was my Mother’s favourite saying. And now I’m old and grey I understand what she meant!

She was not referring to people being unkind or ignoring her but to the fact that nobody cared to know her for who she was, in the sense of knowing what she thought or what she believed in.

I believe she was referring to the fact that people made assumptions about her because of her age and simply saw her as an old person rather than as a person with beliefs, wishes and dreams and a vibrant and interesting past. In other words, she was referring to the fact that she was stereotyped.

Is one ever too old to have dreams?
