4 October 2021 — GOOD GIRL/BOY or BAD GIRL/BOY?

Our conditioning as we are growing up instils in us the way we should behave. How we respond to this is our choice but we basically have two options to go along with our conditioning or to rebel against it: ie be ‘good’ or ‘bad’.

I still, old as I am, catch myself feeling pleased because I have done what was expected of me when a child — things like tidy up after myself AND in many ways my conditioning falls within the Buddhist concept of walking through the world HARMLESSLY which means leaving no sign that you have passed through that area. Unlike today when countless people drop their rubbish onto the floor wherever they happen to be!

And at home it gives me great pleasure to live in tidy surroundings and great pain if things become untidy. And yet I know several people who only seem to be able to survive in a mess. Whether this is a rebellion against their upbringing or merely a natural way of being for them I do not know.

‘It takes all sorts to make the world go round’ they say and our personal little world is all the happier when we love each other for who they are without criticising and judging others.

I find that an aid to accepting and loving the circumstances I attract, is to remind myself of the concept of ‘KARMA’ and and the fact that this is happening to me now because of actions in the past in this life or previous lives.

PONDER POINTS ..my feelings on reading the above are…my thoughts on reading the above are ….I can relate to the concept of ‘good/bad boy or girl when I recall incidents such as …..what I think about people who drop rubbish on the ground outside is ….
