6 February 2024 — FATHER WILLIAM

This is a poem by Lewis Carroll which appears in his1865 book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

“You are old Father William the young man said and your hair has becomes very white; and yet you incessantly stand on your head — do you think at your age it is right”.

A poem I love simply because it removes all distinction around age. Today I find that people generally assume certain things about others depending on their age. Just as Father William’s son did about him. There is no way I would wish to deny am a very old lady but I do have objections with the expectations placed upon me because of my age and most of these NEGATIVE expectations.

On reading this I felt …..my thoughts on reading this are

My writing is based on the understanding that ‘we’, (each of us individually) create our own reality through our feelings, thoughts and actions.
