6 September 2020 = WALKING HARMLESSLY THROUGH THE WORLD

In essence this means not leaving any trace of our having been in a certain place. Just imagine if everyone practiced this precept we would never come across litter or dog’s faeces. And, that would be pretty wonderful and very unusual around where I live. That is, of course, not to acknowledge the many people whom I see putting their rubbish into bins, picking up dog faeces and often going out of their way to do so.

WALKING HARMLESSLY also, I feel, includes not upsetting people in any way so that they feel less happy after passing us by or exchanging words with us.

For some people, however, leaving rubbish, or writing graffiti is a way in which they feel they GAIN KUDOS BY LEAVING THEIR MARK ON THE WORLD. And here I have come to a rather curious understanding that people who do leave rubbish, write graffiti etc , however obtuse, deserve my sympathy and NOT my condemnation due to the fact that they feel low in self esteem. Leaving rubbish perhaps makes them feel important. As for the graffiti — well sometimes, the graffiti I see I feel is very artistic and must have been drawn by a very talented artist who deserves recognition for his or her work.

However, when all is said and done dropping rubbish because one is too lazy to bin it or carry it home, is, indeed NOT WALKING THROUGH THE WORLD HARMLESSLY and DOES affect other people adversely through spoiling the environment.
