7 January 2021 — Look for A Silver Lining

I’m not finding it easy looking for a Silver lining today.

On top of everything else happening today the weather is so very cold. Personally I’m still experiencing much pain from a broken shoulder: other people I know are coming down with colds and on top of everything the news is pretty depressing especially in the USA. It certainly doesn’t provide us with much faith in our world leaders! And of course there’s the Coronavirus!

The Judy Garland song, back in the day, went:’ LOOK FOR THE SILVER LINING/WHENEVER A CLOUD APPEARS IN THE BLUE, REMEMBER SOMEWHERE THE SUN IS SHINING /AND SO THE RIGHT THING TO DO IS MAKE IT SHINE FOR YOU. A HEART FULL OF JOY AND GLADNESS/WILL ALWAYS BANISH THE SADNESS AND STRIFE /SO ALWAYS LOOK FOR THE SILVER LINING AND TRY TO FIND THE SUNNY SIDE OF LIFE.

It may be that in order to find our silver lining we have to use our IMAGINATION: ‘LOGIC WILL GET YOU FROM A TO B, IMAGINATION WILL TAKE YOU EVERYWHERE’ (Albert Einstein)

When I find myself in a space which distresses me it is often helpful I find, to think of one of my favourite places to be which is usually on a certain beach in North Devon. This in itself makes me feel good as there are wonderful memories associated with this beach and once the memories come flooding back the sun really is shining for me and my heart feels joy and then I take it one step further and IMAGINE myself there and at other places and the circumstances I am in do not seem so bad as NOTHING LASTS FOR EVER.
