7 January 2022 — INNER PEACE — LOVING OURSELVES WARTS AND ALL.

Well, we are seven days into the New Year. How are we finding it? Has anything really changed?

Did we make New Year resolutions which we are struggling to keep already?

Has the New Year brought us peace or is it still more of the ‘same old’?

Inner peace can come through taking time to be in nature or, even when in town listening to the bird song above the traffic noise. BUT true inner peace can, I feel, only be obtained through stilling the rational monkey mind.

One way in which this can be done apart from tuning into nature is by paying attention to where one is and noticing other people and the places one passes and by seeing one’s self spreading sunshine wherever one goes, to whomever one sees. This can be done through IMAGINATION (an attribute Einstein writes about!). And also a smile goes a long way!

If we imagine the sun shining and covering over the clouds of worry, longing, despair etc our bodies then have a tendency to relax which in turn affects the ‘monkey’ mind — slows it down.

The main attribute to attaining Inner Peace, however, I feel is to LOVE OURSELVES WARTS AND ALL.

I feel that until we are able to accept the way we are and love ourselves ‘warts and all’ we will continue to be in conflict with ourselves and continue comparing and judging ourselves with others.

My writing is based on the understanding that ‘we’, (each of us individually) create our own reality through our feelings, thoughts and actions.
