9 August 2022 — COMPARING OURSELVES

Comparing ourselves to some kind of ‘NORM’ — TO WHAT WE JUDGE TO BE ‘NORMAL’. When we do this we are in effect judging ourselves to see if we match up to what is expected or if we ‘exceed’ or ‘fall short’. I often think, and this is reinforced by others’ comments, that I am fit and healthy and somewhat unusual for my age because of the amount of miles I walk.

Why won’t I just ‘BE’ — just accept that this is who I am and what I do irrespective of what is considered the ‘norm’ for my age. Because I enjoy walking long distances and am still able to do so at my age doesn’t make me any different from anyone else who does what they enjoy doing.

PONDER POINTS: my thoughts ln reading the above are …..what I feel is ….. I am sometimes aware of making expectations of people related to their age when …. I feel I am very accepting of people and what they do at whatever age because ….
