RECEIVING KINDNESS FROM STRANGERS

I was in the local supermarket and had much more shopping with me than I could comfortably carry home. Whilst shopping i had asked a lady if she would reach something down for me from the top shelf, which she did.

As I was struggling out of the store with my heavy load, the same lady came up to me and said ‘we’ll give you a lift home’. which being independent me, I at first declined. But she was quite insistent. I let go of my pride and said ‘yes please, thank you’ . How grateful was I?

She had no idea where I lived and how far she and her partner would have to drive out of their way.

What struck me more than anything, however, was her energy. She seemed like one together lady who was following her instincts. In fact as well as being totally buoyed up with her kindness I was quite overwhelmed by her matter of factness which I suppose is a pseudonym for LOVE.

It was indeed, a great encounter and today I have tried to emulate her way of being and love the situations and the other people I encounter. I am afraid that sometimes when I give, I ‘count the cost’ as it were, and expect people to be grateful (which they aren’t always) — a sign, of course, that I am giving from my EGO rather than out of PURE LOVE,

PONDER POINTS: On reading this I felt….my thoughts about the above are…I have been overwhelmed by people’s kindness when….. I often go out of my way to help others when….
